I don’t think Shockey has much left in the tank, besides his name value.

But it appears to be a very cheap deal with the Panthers.  ProFootballTalk has the details:

“Looks like I’m signing with Carolina,” Shockey wrote on Facebook Thursday.   “Time for the Next chapter. This is a great opportunity for me, and I am excited to play football. Lets hope we all have the chance to play this season.”

Contract hasn’t been signed yet, but it will be for two years. Shockey trying to get his money locked in, before the lock out.  Smart on his part.
