I promise you that Kendrick Perkins is a very happy go lucky guy, he just not very photogenic. More importantly for the Thunder he is the type of player you need if you want to win championships.
They didn’t waste any time signing him to a contract extension, making him a part of a core they feel that can win a title now.
The Oklahoma City Thunder has agreed to terms on a contract extension for Kendrick Perkins, the 6-foot-10 center acquired via trade with Boston last Thursday, The Oklahoman has learned.
Terms of the deal were not immediately known, but Perkins is eligible for a four-year extension. Perkins earlier this season had turned down a four-year offer worth approximately $22 million from the Celtics.
With the two sides agreeing to a deal now, the risk of Perkins leaving the Thunder as an unrestricted free agent this summer has been removed.
The only issue I see with OKC currently is they are a team that has a problem closing. They have a closer in Kevin Durant, but he is still only 22 and their entire team as a whole is very young.
That becomes blatantly obvious in end game situations.
The thing I like about them is even when they fail, they have still have that look, like it doesn’t matter we are going to keep shooting until we kill someone.
They are my “Dexter” team, while everyone is concentrating on the East, the real killers maybe hiding in plain sight in the West.
