I think we can all agree that Bynum wasn’t trying to block this shot when he put Michael Beasley on his back. With that being said, the only reason I believe Bynum was suspended for two games was the way that Beasley fell. If Beasley popped right back up, this would be non issue.
I have seen a lot worse that hasn’t punished as harshly.
The NBA announced that Bynum will miss Sunday’s game against Portland and Tuesday’s meeting with Phoenix.
Bynum was ejected after committing a flagrant foul during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 106-98 win over the Timberwolves on Friday night. Bynum turned his shoulder and sent Beasley crashing to the court in a mid-air collision when Beasley drove the lane.
These final games are crucial for the Lakers who hanging on to the #2 seed in the West, but are just one game ahead of the Mavericks and three games ahead of the Thunder.
Also, it should be noted that in the bigger picture is if the Lakers were to make the Finals, they are one game behind the Celtics and Bulls, and two games ahead of the Heat for home court advantage.
It isn’t a coincidence that the Lakers have been a much improved team as Bynum has improved— so we will see if they can maintain without him for a couple of games.
They still have that Kobe fella, he is pretty good.
