This should definitely be an interesting read.
Shaq’s career is running on fumes, so a “No Holds Barred” book as he describes it seems like a logical way to go, even though he has been pretty outspoken throughout his career. I do wonder what “secrets” he may have.
O’Neal is working on what he described to WEEI Radio in Boston as a “very exciting book — no holds barred.”
O’Neal wrote a book with sportswriter Mike Wise in 2001 called “Shaq Talks Back.” This one is being done with sportswriter Jackie MacMullan.
“She knew things that I’d forgotten about,” O’Neal said. “We were sitting at the house talking; we meet twice a week for three hours. She asks me questions, and I ‘ve got to dig in my old Shaq-o-dex. I’m like, ‘That’s 13 years ago.’ It should be a very exciting book — no holds barred. ‘Tell-all’ wouldn’t be the correct term. ‘Truthful’ would be the better term.”
The question begs: will Shaq bend the “truth” in his favor or will he be honest on subjects like sleeping with Gilbert Arenas fiancee? I assume it will be the former not the latter.
The reason the book will sell is because people will be curious about his take on his relationship with Kobe Bryant. It will be extremely one sided, but nevertheless it is something readers will be drawn to.
If Shaq wanted to impress me, he would write the book himself.
