If you’re in the market for a 155-foot mega yacht…Tiger Woods has a deal for you!
The embattled golfer is reportedly selling his boat, named “Privacy” (insert your own joke here) for $25 million. Hopefully he’s flexible on that number. Woods bought the boat in 2004 for a price of $20 million and gave it to his then-new wife Elin Nordegren as a gift. Since the divorce, Nordegren has given the boat back to Woods because she did not want to pay for the upkeep.
As for whether or not Tiger can actually turn a profit on the yacht, one expert seems to think his asking price is out of bounds.
“Privacy” is currently docked at North Palm Beach, and local mega-yacht builder John Staluppi believes Woods’ asking price is too high.
“The market on big yachts has gone down,” said Staluppi. “Banks aren’t financing and the economy is off. It’s a buyer’s market.
“Unless he sells to someone who wants to brag that he’s got Tiger’s yacht, he’ll get about $20 million.”
If we’ve learned nothing else through the years, it’s that there are plenty of people looking to score souvenirs from some of pop culture’s greatest celebrity train wrecks. But it remains to be seen if one of those folks has $20 million burning a hole in their pocket.
As for Tiger, never fear. He recently bought a 62-foot diving boat named “Solitude” for $3.1 million.
