LeBron James Says Cleveland “Not My City”

by | Posted on Sunday, April 24th, 2011

If fans in Cleveland are disavowing all love for LeBron James, he’s now returned the favor. After Thursday’s game against the 76ers, LeBron corrected a reporter who referred to Cleveland as “your city”.

From the NY Daily News

“It wasn’t my city. It wasn’t my team either,” he said. “I was just a player, you know, I helped get that franchise to leaps and bounds that they haven’t seen before.

“But there were players before me - Mark Price, Larry Nance, Brad Daugherty and guys way before me. The city was not built on LeBron James.”

That’s a far cry from the LeBron who vowed to bring a championship to Cleveland and was allowed to run roughshod over the organization because he was considered their hometown hero. He had every right to seek a new team once his contract expired, but to suggest he was “just a player” on that team is just silly. For all of the unnecessary hate that LeBron receives, there are moments like this when his own thoughtless statements invite more scorn.

My husband and i have been really peaceful when John managed to finish up his investigation because of the ideas he discovered out of your web site. It’s not at all simplistic to simply continually be freely giving secrets that the others have been making money from. And we realize we need the writer to appreciate for that. All of the explanations you’ve made, the simple website menu, the relationships your site help to create – it is everything astonishing, and it’s really letting our son in addition to our family know that this situation is exciting, which is unbelievably vital. Many thanks for everything!
