The list of NBA players who have tried their hand at music is a pretty lengthy one and about to get longer. Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis is the latest to spend his downtime as a hip-hop artist.
In a sit down interview with San Francisco DJ Chuy Gomez, Ellis talks about his hopes to get his own label up and running and his upcoming releases. So far he says he’s teamed up with some high-profile artists and hopes to connect with a few more before dropping his mixtape.
With a lockout that threatens to stretch well into next season, this could be the first of many “alternative career” stories you hear regarding NBA players. Hopefully this goes better than some of the other failed NBA rap careers.
