Thanks to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, we now have a better idea of why attacked Dominique Wilkins in a failed mission known as “Operation Repo”.
According to the AJC, Michel owes $15,000 for unpaid rent for commercial real estate, damages and lawyers fees. Court documents show that Michel signed a lease for a commercial property in July, 2010. Several months prior, in April, Michel brought a lawsuit against Wilkins for $12,500 over custom clothing the former Atlanta Hawks star apparently received but never paid for.
It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what Michel was thinking. He’d try to collect what ‘Nique owed him and use it to pay off his other debts. Obviously getting his left eye dotted wasn’t part of the plan. Now he’ll have a third (that we know of) court case to deal with after being charged with simple battery.
But the public embarrassment of getting KTFO’d after trying to bow up on a Hall of Famer wasn’t enough to dampen Michel’s bravado since he spent part of Wednesday tweeting to Wilkins that the Hawks exec needed to watch his back and pay his debts before complaining that “#noonecares that my cheek looks” busted up.
That’s not true. If no one cared, no one would be talking about it. It’s just that most people don’t have a lot of sympathy for you. There’s a difference.
