Tate Forcier has had a strange past couple of years since he burst on the scene as a freshman sensation for the Michigan Wolverines. After a good start, he had a disappointing end to his freshman year.
He lost his starting job to Denard Robinson his sophmore year, threaten to transferred, was ruled academically ineligible for their bowl game and finally he just quit the team.
He was suppose to transfer to Miami, but he changed his mind and as of right now his status is in limbo.
We have this report that he possibly tried to kill himself last month, here are the details.
Tate Forcier, who quit the football team earlier this year, had locked himself in a bedroom of a third-floor apartment April 22, and was hanging out the window, the report states.
A woman in the apartment complex, in the 100 block of South Division, called Grand Rapids police.
No one will confirm whether this was a suicide attempt, but the police report says the woman who called was concerned Forcier would jump from the window.
Officers were able to get Forcier to open the bedroom door. He was not arrested, but transported to a hospital.
There is definitely more going on, so I all I can hope is that Forcier has the right people around him so he gets the help he needs. What people forget are these are very young men who a lot of time (myself include) are reported and treated like grown men.
It is very difficult going from High School to College for a regular kid, so imagine being thrust into the media spotlight with 100,000 fans analyzing your every move.
We wish Forcier well on wherever his journey takes him next.
