You might have heard about the ESPN Tell-All Book that is coming out next week, that allegedly will give you all the dirty little secrets about the World Wide Leader.
I can save you the $20 that it will cost you to buy the book and give you the cliff notes version.
Drinking, sex, backstabbing, ego, beefs and drama.
ESPN = Basketball Wives.
No different than any other work environment especially one in an isolated area like Bristol, Connecticut. With that being said I did find this excerpt from Pam Oliver interesting courtesy of The Big Lead.
The FOX NFL sideline reporter worked at ESPN in the early 1990s. In the ESPN Book, Oliver recalled a moment when Emmitt Smith looked at her and said, “you must have no life.” Oliver told the authors of the ESPN Book: “I had gotten into that creepy area where you’re single and working nonstop around athletes on television. That’s a double whammy for some insecure men who I didn’t really want to be messing with anyway.
It was definitely a long dry spell. I don’t think I even had a boyfriend when I was at ESPN. It was a 3-year-drought.”
I am pretty sure Emmitt helped her out with that drought, but I digress. I know a few people at Bristol and the hours they put in are ridiculous. Sports is 24/7, covering them is almost like being a Fireman or Doctor you are always on call, so I could see how some of the workers at ESPN either got caught up in an office romance or had to go through a “drought”.
As long as they weren’t desperate enough to sleep with Chris Berman it is all good, he likes to hit it from the “Back, Back, Back” or so I have heard.
