I don’t know if LeBron truly is carrying a cast of nobodies, but this Cavs team is All-Star caliber compared to the group Allen Iverson carried to the 2001 NBA Finals.
Seven time NBA champion, and ‘Mr. Big shot’ himself, Robert Horry made an appearance on “CBS Radio” to talk about the 2015 NBA Finals.
When discussing the insane performance of LeBron James through two games of the finals, Horry referred back to the amazing run Allen Iverson went on leading the 76ers to the 2001 Finals against the Lakers.
“The run that LeBron is doing is impressive,” Horry said. “It reminds me of two different guys: LeBron back in 2007 when he took that team to the Finals — the first Cavs team — and then what Allen Iverson did when he took his Sixers to the Finals. When you got a cast of nobodies, a cast of people you can’t even call on — other than Dikembe Mutombo for the Sixers — to take them to the Finals, put them on your back and do everything offensively and defensively to get them there, it’s special.”
Again I don’t know about nobodies, but the Cavs have some decent names on the roster. I also believe Iverson and the 76ers have a different outcome in the Finals if they faced any team other than the Lakers.
