Are you interested in owning the shoes Jason Terry wore when he fired 27 points in Game Six of the NBA Finals to extinguish the Miami Heat? Do you have an extra $3,700 lying around? It will take at least that much to lockdown JET’s size 12 autographed Reebok Zig Slashes since the Dallas Mavericks guard is auctioning them off for charity via Bidding for Good.
The auction closes on Sunday and benefits the Jason Terry Foundation, which “is a youth based organization, focused on helping others obtain dreams (H.O.O.D.), through education, self-empowerment, and community involvement.”
Terry’s championship-related auction is nothing new. Last fall, Ron Artest sold off the ring he won with the Lakers in an effort to help a mental health charity. Inspired by Artest, Darko Milicic auctioned the ring he won in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons and donated the proceeds to raise awareness and fight Batten’s Disease, a terminal illness affecting children.
Beyond the auction, Terry has helped raise more than $75,000 for Dallas-area charities in the past three years. So congratulations to Terry for winning an NBA title. Bigger congrats to JET and everyone like him for doing more about reaching out to the community than just recording league-sponsored public service announcements.
