Pippen infamously made headlines before the NBA Finals after basically stating that LeBron James is the greatest to ever play the game. Whether the premature accolades went to LeBron’s head or not, he failed to deliver in the fourth quarter of the 2011 NBA Finals on multiple occasions, as the Heat fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games.

In the wake of Miami’s collapse (losing the Finals after holding a 2-1 lead), MJ’s old sidekick found it neccessary to retract his words and state that Michael Jeffrey Jordan indeed is the best ever.

From cbssports.com:

Pippen says “all know that [Jordan’s] the greatest player that ever played the game” and that his comments were taken “a little bit out of context.”

Makes me wonder .. Wouldn’t it have been easier to have just kept quiet .. or at least wait for the result of the Finals?
