Tiger Woods has signed a three-year deal to promote a Japanese pain reliever, his first endorsement since he was caught in a sex scandal toward the end of 2009.
Everyone now take a deep breath and insert you’re why Tiger needs “Heat Rub” joke here _______.
The deal with Kowa Company Ltd. is geared only toward the market in Japan. Woods already has filmed commercials for “Vantelin Kowa,” a heat rub used to relieve muscle and joint pain. The commercial is to be shown in Japan starting next month.
I am curious to see how they market him in the commercial, I could see it now…
“After I’ve put in work on eighteen holes… of Golf, I use Vantelin Kowa to relieve my aches and pains.”
I definitely expect a more subtle approach to his marketing; but I am happy to see Tiger starting to get endorsements and work on reviving his career.
Tiger Woods has reached a trough in his golf career. During his Tuesday interview, Tiger spoke on about his return to the game. Saying that there’s “no timetable” for returning to competitive golf while he recovers from injuries to his knee and Achilles tendon and “I’m 35 not 65”. Woods spoke in Pennsylvania at the Aronimink Golf Club for the AT&T National.
I agree that Tiger should not return to golf until he is 100%, he is young in golf years and has plenty of time to earn money on the green. This isn’t a case of Terrell Owens looking for that last paycheck before his career window is completely shut. Tiger has the ability to golf at a high level into his 60s if able to shake the injury bug. With the emergence of Rory McIlroy, Tiger may have the push and motivation necessary to bring back the Tiger of old and complete the best era of golf in our lifetime.
