ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that that the Washington Redskins have shipped off defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots for 2013 5th Round Pick.
Haynesworth has been one of the most reviled players in the league the last few years. Suspended last year by the team for “conduct detrimental”, Haynesworth famously collected a $21 million dollar roster bonus then refused to show up to mandatory meetings, demanding he be released. This even drew the ire of the NFL Players Association, and those guys back up just about any of their players. He also defended himself against sexual abuse charge with the old “I Don’t Like Black Girls” defense.
Now he is going to play for the evil empire of the NFL. For a fifth rounder.
Albert Haynesworth is now going to play in Bill Belichick’s defensive system. Belichick, famous for not giving a crap about off the field behavior, should be able to squeeze some kind of effort and productivity out of the the 335 pound Haynesworth.
That is not good news for the rest of the league.
