Ever since Jets linebacker Bart Scott said this infamous line, “Can’t Wait!” I look forward to another funny/crazy/controversial statement from Mr. Scott.
I wasn’t disappointed.
Bart wasn’t too please about two-a-day practices in training camp possibly being eliminated as part of a new collective bargaining agreement.
“I think it’s wimping out, making football more soft,” Scott said, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. “No reason to try and make camp easy.”
“I get concerned you’re making football players weaker because you don’t push them past that threshold. … I get concerned with the same thing with the quarterback stuff, that they turn it into flag football; they turn it into little pansy stuff.”
I understand the league trying to eliminate injuries like concussions, but football is a HITTING game! And injuries are apart of the game.
No matter how many times you try to change the rules to protect the player someone is going to get hurt. That’s just the way it is.
So I agree with Mr. Scott on this one. The players’ bodies have to be conditioned for all that hitting and tackling.
Eliminating two-a-days will make them wimpy and soft.
