When is this lockout going to end?
That’s been the question that has been asked by players, fans, and journalists all across the nation that have painfully seen the NFL go MIA. The longer the lockout goes, the higher the possibility of a shortened season or even no season. And to even add to the misery, the NBA entering a lockout makes the situation harder for a sports fan.
As each day passes, we try and extract information from those responsible with negotiations to see if any progress has been made. According to Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks, One GM made this comment:
“It does feel like we’re at the five-yard line, and we’re right there. But it’s like Jerome Bettis has the ball, and I’ve seen him fumble on the 1-yard line before. If there’s a fumble now, hopefully either Goodell or Smith plays Ben Roethlisberger(notes) and stops the whole thing from falling apart.”
Long story short, there’s still a chance for negotiations to fall apart. However, I do feel like we are near the end of the NFL Lockout. Significant progress has been made and we NFL fans want a resolution as soon as possible.
Personally, I feel that there will be football this year and that all 16 games will be played. But that may be merely a product of my refusal to believe in a fall without any football.
Though we can’t be sure where negotiations clearly are, we do know that efforts are being made.
We pray for no fumbles ..
