Redskins QB John Beck Unrecognized and Turned Away At Redskins Park

I have a feeling that this might be happening often for the next month until personnel and players get to know each other. Redskins quarterback John Beck showed up to Redskins Park Monday only to be turned away after a security guard didn’t recognize him.

Mike Jones of the Washington Post was the first to report the incident:

He was turned away at the security gate by a guard, who didn’t even know who he was. Beck was told that players can’t report until Tuesday morning, and left slightly disappointed, but not offended.

“I’m OK with that,” Beck said of not being recognized when reached this afternoon. “I haven’t done anything yet.”

I’m not sure if I can blame the security guard for not recognizing Beck. He’s not easily identifiable, plus he wasn’t suppose to be there until Tuesday. Sounds like Beck was confused.

Beck was drafted in the second round of the 2007 draft by the Miami Dolphins and compiled a dismal 0-4 record as a starter for the team, being unable to beat out Chad Henne, Chad Pennington, or Cleo Lemon for the top spot. He spent 2009 with the Baltimore Ravens but didn’t get on the field the entire season.

After reports of Donovan McNabb being traded out of Washington, D.C., I hope Mike Shanahan has another quarterback in mind or some Space Jam juice to transform John Beck and Rex Grossman into starting quarterbacks. If not, the nation’s capital is in for one LONG season.
