Ronde Barber says Tiki Barber to Bucs Unrealistic

by | Posted on Sunday, July 10th, 2011

Tiki Barber is still working toward his NFL comeback. The 2 teams high on his list are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Regarding Tiki reporting to the Bucs, Ronde Barber, twin brother to Tiki, says, “I don’t know how realistic that is now.” Four or five years ago, it wasn’t inconceivable to see the Barber twins play on the same team. Now it seems that that isn’t much of an option.

What else did Ronde have to say about Tiki’s return to football and the Bucs?

Ronde: “I’ve not had a chance to talk to GM Mark Dominik or Raheem Morris about it.”
Translation: First, it’s been 5 years since you’ve touched a football, Tiki. Second, it’s a lockout. I’m just trying to make sure that I have a job.

Ronde: “Maybe the situation would be different under different circumstances.”
Translation: It’s a lockout. We don’t have time for this.

Ronde: “But I know he wants to go somewhere where he feels like he’s wanted.”
Translation: Tampa ain’t the place for you, bro.

Ronde: “He’s prepared, he looks like he did preretirement”
Translation: He’s in shape and can still fumble like no other.

Ronde: “He really dedicated himself and has been in there working out for four months. The only thing he doesn’t have is the on-field endurance.”
Translation: He’s trying but he’s gonna get the brakes beat off during the regular season.

Ronde: “He’s very adept at what he used to do. I don’t see him having a problem.”

Translation: He was a solid running back and he’s my twin. I can’t be too mean about this.

Ronde: “The one thing he can’t fail at is football.”
Translation: That whole marriage, fidelity and keeping a job post football thing? Not so much. He can do football, though.

Ronde: “He had somewhat mastered it when he retired.”

Translation: He can run but those fumbles…..

Rumors are that Tiki may be a good fit with the Carolina Panthers, which, with the addition of Jeremy Shockey, could make Carolina the all-geriatric team. Stay tuned. The Tiki Barber saga is far from over.
