You read the title right. If you thought the price for a regular hot dog at the ballpark was expensive, I’m sure you haven’t heard about the Brockton Rox plan to unveil a new hot dog on National Hot Dog Day.
The Brockton Rox will attempt to break a Guinness World Record by serving an $80 hot dog to the fans on July 23. The Massachusetts-based member of the Canadian American Association will give the footlong frankfurter the red carpet treatment. After deep frying the expensive dog, it will be rolled in truffle oil and coated in porcini dust. The toppings? White truffle shavings, creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe.
The baseball team, named after the Boston Red Sox, is managed by famed former Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner. There aren’t any photos of what the pricey dog will look like yet because the caviar isn’t due in until next week. Sounds like a frank only purchased by the rich and famous, but it doesn’t sound too appealing either.
