Due to an injury suffered at the Masters in May, Tiger Woods will miss yet another tournament while he tries to get back to 100%.
“Unfortunately, I’ve been advised that I should not play in the British Open,” Woods said. “As I stated at the AT&T National, I am only going to come back when I’m 100 percent ready. I do not want to risk further injury. That’s different for me, but I’m being smarter this time.”
Woods suffered the injuries to knee ligaments and his Achilles after swinging in an awkward stance. He withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship and dropped out after nine holes in the Players Championship a week later.
Woods said today that he believes his best years are ahead of him, but participating in the Players Championship was a mistake. “In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have competed at The Players, but it’s a big event, and I wanted to be there to support the tour,” he said. “I’ve got to learn from what I did there and do it right this time and not come back until I’m ready.”
We all want to see Tiger get back to the form he was in before the divorce and injuries. We’re running out of sports that aren’t in lockouts now so we need someone to root for.
