The New England Patriots are known for transforming players considered a “bad guy” into a “good guy” (i.e. Randy Moss, Corey Dillon). Albert Haynesworth is not only considered a “bad guy” but a lazy guy as well. Bill Belichick has a lot of work on his hand but Haynesworth plans to make it easy for him.
Speaking to reports after practice on Tuesday, Haynesworth said he is happy to be with the Patriots and he’s leaving the past behind him and rewriting his name as “Albert Haynesworth the Patriot.”
“It’s a great chance to be on a great team,” Haynesworth said. “It’s a chance to restore my name or whatever you want to say. It’s a great chance to get back on the field and play football.”
Signing with New England was a blessing for Haynesworth.
I believe this is his last chance to prove that he can be a consistent, dominate force on defense. With him being a part of a winning franchise it should motivate him to give 100-percent on each play.
I hope he’s serious about “rewriting” or “restoring” his name. Only time will tell.
