There are two fighters who are cash cows in the United States.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
When those two fight (not each other of course) there will be big money available for the hosting site and the television outlet taking care of the production.
Both Mayweather and Pacquiao had fought exclusively with HBO for years, but Bob Arum frustrated with HBO took Manny Pacquiao’s last fight with Shane Mosley to Showtime.
Maybe if Mosley would have fought a little better, Showtime would have had a stronger hold on Pacquiao, but because even with CBS promoting the fight it didn’t do any better than any other Pacquiao fight it left the door open for HBO to get back into the picture.
HBO whose boxing budget is suffering even with a Mayweather fight upcoming did not want to lose another Pacquiao fight, stepped up to the plate and secured the rights to Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3.
Marquez is the last fighter to give Pacquiao any type of problems has desperately wanted a third fight and now he has it.
He will be a huge underdog, but what we do know is he won’t come into the ring just trying to collect a check like the most recent Pacquiao opponents.
