Rex Ryan Angry With Shaun Ellis For Signing With Patriots | Robert Littal Presents BlackSportsOnline

Rex Ryan Not Happy About Shaun Ellis Signing With Rival Patriots

by BSO Staff | Posted on Monday, August 8th, 2011

As a football fan one of the things I hate seeing is a player from my favorite team signing with a rival team. Although he is just a punter, I wasn’t too happy about former Falcons punter Michael Koenen signing with the Buccaneers.

I don’t care if he wasn’t as productive in his final year. Just seeing him wearing the jersey of a hated team makes my skin crawl.

So I understand how Jets coach Rex Ryan feel. Defensive end Shaun Ellis turned down a one-year deal from the Jets and ended up signing a larger contract with New England that could be worth as much as $5 million this year depending on incentives.

From Yahoo! Sports:

“The fact that he chose them,” Ryan said. “There’s no way I’m going to wish him well. There’s no chance of that.”

You can definitely tell that Rex really, really, REALLY hates the Patriots.

Although we don’t know how much the Jets offered Shaun its easy to tell that it wasn’t much if he accepted a $5 million a year deal. If you want to keep a player on your team you have to show him the money.

If not, you’ll see him twice a year with the opposing team.
