With all the controversy swirling at the start of camp in Denver, you had to imagine that Tim Tebow had flashed enough to justify the teams desire to send starter Kyle Orton to Miami. Now according to Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports Backup Jesus is struggling to beat out and undrafted rookie.
As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, “If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.”
The article points out that Weber has practice squad written all over him and you have to think that only an act of God would allow him to make the team ahead of Tebow. (And God isn’t going to do his boy like that.)
It will be interesting to see if Tebow can become any kind of NFL quarterback or if Merrill Hoge will have the last laugh. But when your play makes Brady Quinn the SECOND biggest first round quarterback flop on your roster, things aren’t looking up for B3J.
