After a series of impressive performances at 7-on-7 events, Justin Combs, the son of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is garnering attention as an emerging College Football Recruit. According to TheSportsBank.net, Illinois is in the process of extending Combs a scholarship offer, and a host of coaches in the Big 12 and Pac-12 are also allegedly doing their due diligence on young Combs to determine if he might be worth a scholarship from their programs.
Josh Helmholdt, a Rivals.com football recruiting analyst , who had the opportunity to watch Combs at the Badger 7-on-7 in Pittsburgh in April determined that landing at a BCS school might be a stretch for Combs, but a scholarship at a Division I college is a definite possibility.
At the 7-on-7 event, word spread quickly who Combs was. “Several kids told me they were going after ‘P-Diddy’s kid’ and he got a lot of trash talked his way, but he just put his head down, kept his mouth shut and played hard. It was evident he wanted to keep a low profile and was hoping to just be one of the guys” Helmholdt said.
Listed at only 5-9 , 170, combined with who his father is , Combs has a hard time at being taken seriously as a college football prospect. However, his humble attitude may be the deciding factor that will help convince coaches to take a chance on him as a player. Not to mention the potential publicity a school could gain from having him on their team.
