Light heavyweight fighter Ismayl Sillakh may not have his name in flashing lights this weekend in Las Vegas, but his exceptional skills have him ranked number three by the World Boxing Council.
Unlike other athletes who train in Los Angeles but spend more time smelling themselves than working in the gym, 26-year-old Sillakh (16-0,13 KOs) possesses a humility and maturity that shows in his work ethic. The Ukraine native has been spotted at a private health club in the valley working hard with two-a-day trainings.
Sillakh has been preparing for his next fight against number four-ranked Chis Henry (25-2, 20 KOs) in Moscow on November 5th.
When asked about his opponent, Sillakh confidently told BSO “ He (Chris Henry) is a great boxer and has never been stopped. So I have a chance to be the first who knocks him down”.
The fight will take place in the undercard battle of Denis Lebedev against James Toney. The winner of Sillakh vs. Henry will have to fight former titlist Zsolt Erdei, with the winner of that bout earning a title shot against the winner of the October 15 fight between Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson (ESPN).
