You can’t say that wasn’t entertaining.

For three rounds Floyd Mayweather did what Floyd Mayweather always does. He was simply spectacular and was dominating Victor Ortiz in every shape, form and fashion.

Then in the 4th round in my mind Mayweather thought he could get the KO because he came out very aggressive. In turn he left himself open and Ortiz landed his most meaningful punches of the round.

I wouldn’t say Mayweather was hurt, but Ortiz had his attention.

That’s when Ortiz for reasons unknown headbutts Mayweather in the corner. I don’t know if it was out frustration or he was trying to dirty up the fight, but it was a clear and blatant foul.

This is when it gets crazy.

As Joe Cortez tries to clean everything up first Ortiz kisses Mayweather on the cheek, after that Ortiz is told to go to neutral corner.

It appears Cortez resumes the fight, but Ortiz still is trying to hug it out. That is when Mayweather hits him with the two piece and a biscuit.

Ortiz can’t make the count and the fight is over.

One thing needs to be made clear. If Cortez signaled for the fight to start, Ortiz has no basis for a complaint. Once a ref says fight you have to protect yourself you can not be playing around in the ring.

Considering Cortez did not call a foul on Mayweather, the assumption was the fight was in play at the time of the KO.

Mayweather could have waited, but he was not obligated to. From the technical sense it was not a cheap shot, it was a legal shot.

Ortiz has been around boxing long enough to know the first rule of boxing is to protect yourself at all times. He lost his focused and he paid the price for it.

Not the way anyone wanted the fight to end, but it was a legit knockout per the rules.
