Allen Iverson: “I’ll Play for Anybody”

Only difference right now between Allen Iverson and Terrell Owens is that A.I. hasn’t done a workout that no one has attended yet.

He has been trying to get back in the NBA now for awhile, but has found no suitors. Many think his attitude about coming off the bench has been the reason for that.

Iverson wants you to know that isn’t a problem anymore.

“I’ll play for anybody,” Iverson told Yahoo! Sports.

“Obviously, they might have some issues thinking I don’t want to help a team in a certain capacity,” Iverson said. “But that’s over with. All that was going on through an emotional time. It cost me to not play. I’m just willing to help any squad in any capacity.

Iverson is throwing his Las Vegas All-Star Classic in two weeks and it would be a good time to see how he is looking as player.

Will a team pick him up?

I think it is more likely he will be hanging on the stoop with Marvin Harrison than him on an NBA court this season, if there is a season.

A microwave-styled scoring combo guard off the bench? That never works right Vinnie Johnson, Sarunas Marciulionis, Bobby Jackson, José Juan Barea… A clearer headed A.I. unencumbered by personal grief should fill that role easily on any team, ANY TEAM. (If he would’ve accepted such role “ego-free” back on the 2004 US national squad, they would’ve gotten gold. Still would’ve lost that first game to Puerto Rico. That was fate.)
