Ronnie Brown made the single worst play of the NFL season (watch the video below), but he has an explanation. Granted the explanation doesn’t make any sense, but at least he has one.
Pro Football Talk has the quote.
“It was a designed play,” Brown said. “I’ve just got to make a better decision with the ball. No matter if it’s a pass or a run, I’ve just got to make a better decision. I was trying to out-think myself a little bit. It was a pass play and I was thinking, once the guy slipped off, just try to throw the ball away and give us another chance for fourth down – not take a loss where we can go for it on fourth down, if possible. I’ve just got to make a better decision with the ball.”
If what Brown is saying is true while he still gets the majority of the blame, it makes you wonder what in the blue hell was Andy Reid thinking making that call?
The Eagles have Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and a ton of explosive playmakers and Reid decides to give little used Brown a run/pass option on the goal line?
Doesn’t make any sense, but since Andy Reid is the worst goal line, short yardage head coach in the history of Football.
