I wish I could shoot a sweet jump shot. But I digress. Italian hoops team Virtus Bologna has been trying all summer to get Kobe to play for the team. They are really putting all of their cards on the table with this deal.
According to team owner Claudio Sabatini, Virtus Bologna has a deal in place to offer Kobe a whopping $2mil to suit up just one game for the team. Here are some details:
Sabatini told Il Resto del Carlino he’s secured a network deal and unspecified sponsorships to pay for Bryant’s proposed $2-million per-game appearance fee, to be dubbed “Kobe night.” Sabatini did leave out one kind of important detail. This whole scenario hinges on Bryant actually accepting the offer.
If the 2011 season were to ever start, Kobe’s was scheduled to make $25,244,000 for the year, which would break down to about $307,853.65 per game.
That $2-million is six times more than what Kobe would make this year. If I was in Kobe’s shoes I would go ahead and take that deal. Its not every day a person can earn $2 million in one day. And the lockout isn’t ending any time soon.
Go ahead and make that easy money, Kobe.
