KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO reports that University of Missouri Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel was arrested Wednesday night for driving while intoxicated. There aren’t many details other than the report that he was arrested, alone in his vehicle, by Boone County law enforcement, where the university grounds are located.
Pinkel posted the $500 bond and was said to be very cooperative. That size of bond is an indication that he was not over the top and at least coherent, but it is still something that is not welcome on any level from someone of his stature.
It is a wait and see game on how the University will handle this, but if Pinkel’s personal stance on such a matter is any indication – Mizzou players Beau Brinkley and Will Ebner were suspended the first two games of the season for DWI arrests in August – we may not see him on the sidelines until the bowl season, that is if Mizzou can win one of their last two games to become eligible.
