In his attempt to shatter the record for most bridges burned by a former teammate, Shaquille O’Neal took some shots at former teammate Nate Robinson in his recently released autobiography/exposé, “Shaq Uncut: My Story”.
In the book, which features several anecdotal criticisms lobbed at Kobe Bryant and LeBron James as well as former coaches Phil Jackson and Pat Riley, The Big Tell-All accuses Nate Rob of, ironically, starving for attention (pot, meet overweight center!) and being addicted to Twitter.
Well Lil Nate apparently took offense to those claims by his former Celtics teammate and took to (what else?) Twitter to respond.
Currently, Robinson is on ninth-man status with the Oklahoma City Thunder and needs all the good publicity he can get to shed the playful label he’s accumulated since entering the NBA in 2005 with the New York Knicks.
Shaq, on the hand, is dangerously close to becoming a caricature of himself. He’s now left bodies of former sidekicks to superstars to coaches in every stop he’s ever departed in the league.
While he’s free to discuss any past history as a player now that he’s on the other side, he runs the risk of tarnishing a part of his legacy. Everyone remembers his dominance. It’d be a shame if it gets overshadowed by his pettiness.
