If you want to look at this glass half full, normally the player that is given this honor is talented. There isn’t any question that Suh is a beast.
What it also says is that it isn’t just the NFL and some fans who think Suh is dirty, but his peers as well. So for those who have been trying to protect Suh this puts a dent in their case.
In a Sporting News poll of 111 players on 31 teams, Suh got by far the most votes in the question, “Who is the dirtiest player in the league?“
Suh, the Lions’ second-year defensive tackle, got 36 votes, easily topping Steelers linebacker James Harrison, who got nine votes.
Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan, who aspires to be the dirtiest player in the NFL, will have to settle for third-dirtiest: Finnegan got eight votes.
It can be to your advantage to be seen as a badass dirty player in the field. It can be used as an intimidation factor against opponents.
Very fine line though and Suh has been on the tight rope for a long time. Be aggressive, but don’t purposefully try to harm anyone.
