The Jerry Sandusky story has taken more left turns, as the New York Post is reporting that Joe Amendola lawyer for the accused child molester had a sexual relationship with Mary Iavasile when she was 16 years old, which led to them having their first child together. The two met through a law program in the Pennsylvania school district.
Iavasiles’ mother believed he was more mentor than lover saying, “At the time, I didn’t know the extent of the relationship,” said Janet.
“She met him through the school district; she was interested in the law,” the mother said. Amendola represented Mary in her emancipation trial in 1996, around the same time she was pregnant.
Amendola and Iavasile married in 2003 and have 2 children. With knowing this, the age of consent is 16 in the state of Pennsylvania and it would be know surprise that a laywer who had sexual relations with a minor would be defending a man who’s accused of child rape. The question someone should ask the mother Janet is why didn’t she know more about her daughter who spent so much time with a man in his late forties.
