UCLA Legend and NBA Veteran Walt Hazzard has passed away at the age of 69. Hazzard played on John Wooden’s first NCAA championship team at UCLA. He also helped the United States bring home a gold metal in 1964.
Hazzard was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 1964 NBA Draft. His career started with the Lakers, where he reached two NBA finals, and from there he went on to play for the Seattle Supersonics, Buffalo Braves, and Golden State Warriors.
Tracy Murray, a former Bruin and Los Angeles Laker tweeted earlier today:
“RIP to UCLA Bruin GREAT, the Legendary Walt Hazzard… You will truly be missed Coach…”
