Charles Barkley on Tim Tebow: "National Nightmare Continues" | Robert Littal Presents BlackSportsOnline

Charles Barkley Gives Rational Take on Tim Tebow…Skip Bayless Should Take Note

I could have said it better myself.

I wouldn’t have called it a National Nightmare, but people do act like Tebow is doing something miraculous when he does what is expected out of the QB position.

“The national nightmare continues. Hey listen I like Tim Tebow but there comes a point, he had a great game. He’s supposed to have a great game. They want to make it seem like oh the world is aligned correct. I’m like he does play quarterback. He is supposed to play well. (Host: So you’ve had enough of Tebow?) I think the world has. (Host: There’s a lot of Tebow fans out there. I’ve had enough and I’m not a big Tebow guy and they’re just killing me about Tebow.) First of all Mike I don’t know anything you said about Tebow but let’s just say the jury is still out on Tebow. He seems like a nice kid but these ups and downs are so different. The jury is still out on Tebow. Just because he had a great game and made four or five great throws yesterday doesn’t mean he’s gonna be a great starting quarterback in the NFL.”

  1. Tebowmania is really not surprising. We go through crazes every now and again for people and products. The almost-Messianic-fervor that once surged with our current President was sometimes creepy, but it subsided over time. What is more fascinating is the apparent divergence of the pro- and anti-Tebow groups based upon race. It seems that blacks tend more to be anti-Tebow while whites tend more to be indifferent or pro-Tebow. If accurate, it’s curious. Blacks tend to be more religious than whites, so one might assume they would be more supportive of a fellow Christian. Less religious whites would identify less with an open Christian. Perhaps race trumps even religious identity.
