“To be the man, you have to beat the man WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!”
One of my favorite Ric Flair quotes. Even though it is just wrestling it does ring true in a lot of ways. It is similar to the old cliche if you going to talk to the talk you have to walk the walk.
I don’t have a problem with Rex Ryan brashness, but if you want to be the man you have to be able to back it up. For two years the Jets almost backed up their boasts, but this year is what happens when you have millionaire dreams but dollarnaire results.
Holmes, held without a catch for the first time in his career, had a heated discussion with teammates earlier in the second half, two players told the Daily News. They also felt that Holmes “quit” on the team based on his body language. When Holmes’ replacement, Patrick Turner, scored a 10-yard touchdown with 1:24 to go, Holmes sat alone on the bench, motionless.
Then there is this.
Rex Ryan cried when he met with players this morning, according to Matt Slauson. Clearly an emotional time the day after Jets missed playoffs.
You have to be able to handle the highs and the lows especially when you are a braggadocios team like the Jets. When you talk loud people love to see you fail, no one cares the Arizona Cardinals finished 8-8 or 7-9 or whatever their record was, but everyone knows the Jets failures.
Have to tough it out and stop having tissue like feelings.
Stop being like this guy.
