This makes sense for both Pacquiao and Mayweather.

Cotto is the perfect opponent for both.  He would be an underdog and he brings in the most money.  I think Cotto is a very good fighter and he got his soul back by beating Margarito in a brilliant performance, but he isn’t a GREAT fighter.

Here is what his adviser had to say.

Miguel Cotto’s advisor, Gaby Penagaricano, confirmed that “general” discussions have taken place with the camps of welterweight titleholders Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao regarding potential bouts against Cotto if Mayweather-Pacquiao does not come to fruition.

RingTV.com reported that WBA junior middleweight beltholder Cotto had agreed to terms, other than resolving a few minor details, that would allow for a rematch with WBO welterweight beltholder Pacquiao. An announcement could come as early as Monday.

But Penagaricano said there has been “nothing concrete yet” concerning a return bout with Pacquiao, which sources say could take place on June 9 in Las Vegas at either the Thomas & Mack Center or the MGM Grand.

I think Cotto has a better shot against Pacquiao than Mayweather.

If you are wondering why I haven’t mentioned a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight it is because I don’t think it is happening.

Ok, so after getting sick and tired of seeing this back and forth, and since it seemed to work for “occupy wallstreet” and the “sopa” protest, I propose we boycott all Pacquiao and bob Arum until they give the people what they want. I am serious1 don’t buy a pay-per-view of Pac-man and Cotto. Make it the most miserable pay-per-view gate ever. that is the only way to get the fight we all want to see. hit’em where it hurts. Bob Arum and Pacquiao will have to either man up or kiss his cash cow’s popularity bye bye. I am so upset due to the fact that after Mayweather, who did need a few tune up fights, stopped stalling and Pacquiao swore he would fight Mayweather, still no fight! I mean what does it take to get 2 of the best pound for pound of almost any era to make history and fight each other. not to mention the record breaking payday each camp would receive. Yeah, i know protect your investment, but neither fighter is getting any younger and all it takes is a semi-skilled heavyweight and there goes the popularity of these two lol. so, sign my petition of any Bob Arum/Manny Pacquiao fights at Pacquiaopunkedout.com
