Mike Tice Named New Bears Offensive Coordinator

Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith stayed in house with his search for an offensive coordinator to replace recently departed Mike Martz by promoting former offensive line coach Mike Tice to the position.

The team said that it will also hire a quarterbacks coach to replace Shane Day, who left with Martz, and that the QB coach will “assist with the passing game.”

The Bears will hire an offensive line coach, but Tice will remain hands-on with the line, just as defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli does with the defensive line.
