Floyd Mayweather Says Knicks Jeremy Lin is Only Popular Because He is Asian

A small part of what Mayweather is saying true.

The other part isn’t based in reality, but Mayweather has a fight coming up so it is important to stay in the news, here is what he had to say.

A little after 4 p.m. ET, Mayweather wrote, “Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.”

The black players part doesn’t make much sense, because the Knicks have been losing for a while with various black point guards and I don’t recall another player just appearing out of nowhere to energize a team like Lin.  Not black, white, Asian or Avatar Bosh.

Mayweather is just stirring the pot, because that is what makes him money.

The fact that Lin is Asian-American and went to school at Harvard is all part of the equation.  It is no different than Mayweather being popular because of his backstory.

Mayweather’s has set a trap and watch all the media fall right into it.

  1. It was an ignorant comment. Just because Mayweather said it doesn’t mean it’s a “trap” He isn’t Sun Tzu.
