I don’t like to tell players when they should retire.
It isn’t our lives, it is their life, so if they want to play until they are forced to retire, I don’t have an issue with that. I hate seeing boxers go on too long because getting hit in the head repeatedly can cause long term problems.
For someone like Greg Oden he doesn’t have to worry about that, but you have to wonder when someone will sit him down and tell him it is time to hang them up.
Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo an arthroscopic procedure today in Vail, Colo. to remove debris from his right knee, the team announced. It is his fourth knee surgery since becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft.
Blazers interim general manager Chad Buchanan said it’s too early to say today’s knee procedure will end Oden’s season.
Oden is a good guy, but I was told back when he was in High School he had knees of a 40 year old man even then.
I hope he is able to come back, but to be honest I never expect to see him play in the NBA ever again.
Off topic, but Oden is having his knee surgery at the same place where Kobe caught his rape case, so be careful Greg.
