I think the biggest part of this story will be trying to figure out just who should be offended?
Speaking Wednesday on press row — former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski gave a weird assessment — describing just why Chip Kelly didn’t survive in Philadelphia — per NJ.com.
- “I always put it this way, I don’t think there are many donkeys that have ever won a Kentucky Derby. You need studs. It’s really that simple,” Romanowski said. “When you look at the teams that win, they win with studs. Great football players. Then, when you are a great football coach, and you can utilize and put every one of those players in a position to win, and utilize their talents to the best of their ability, that’s when you win.”
It would appear some of those horses were LeSean McCoy, receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin and guard Evan Mathis.
The Donkey’s must have been running back DeMarco Murray, cornerback Byron Maxwell and quarterback Sam Bradford.
“When I was in San Francisco, I saw the 49ers get rid of Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, Tom Rathman,” Romanowski said. “But a lot of times … when we got rid of Joe Montana, who took over? Another Hall-of-Fame quarterback in Steve Young, who was younger and healthier.”
The Eagles finished 7-9 this season — after back-to-back 10-6 season in Kelly’s first two-years. We’ll see if Kelly is able to avoid those Donkey’s this go round.
