This has really been a bad spring training for baseball players on and off the diamond.
Most of the off-the-diamond incidents included car accidents and DUIs.
Red Sox Bobby Jenks Arrested for DUI, Destruction of Property and Hit and Run
Rays Prospect Matt Bush Arrested for Running Over Motorcyclist’s Head With SUV
Now, Braves reliever Cristhian Martinez has been added to the list of DUI offenders.
Braves reliever Cristhian Martinez was arrested early Monday morning in Gwinnett County on charges of DUI, according to Gwinnett County jail records. Martinez’s blood alcohol registered .10, according to documents. The legal limit in Georgia is .08. He was also charged with improper lane change and impeding the flow of traffic. Martinez was booked into the Gwinnett County jail at 4:24 a.m. and released at 10:41 a.m.
Martinez was among a group of Braves pitchers who returned from spring training in Orlando, Fla., ahead of the rest of the team to prepare for Tuesday night’s exhibition game at Gwinnett’s Coolray Field.
I really don’t understand how professional athletes continue to drive themselves home after a night of drinking. They have enough money to pay for a driver to take them home, so why not go that route instead of having their name in news headlines for DUIs?
I don’t get it.
