I know it is GQ and it is all about being stylish and what not, but sorry I busted out laughing at this picture.

Just funny to me. Rose has been having a bit of tough year, but the Bulls are still poised to be the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and make a run at a NBA Championship.

GQ took it a little far asking if he is the next Jordan when there is a legitimate debate if Rose is even the best Point guard in the league, but they have to sell magazines.

Jocks and Stiletto Jill have all the quotes of you are interested. Here are a couple that were I found somewhat curious.

…on LeBron’s infamous on-air decision to go to the Heat: “I won’t ever put myself in a bad position so that people can say bad things about me. I make smart decisions… I’m very mature for 23 years old, and I know that whatever I do can hurt someone.”

…on the people of Chicago: “Chicago isn’t used to stardom. …They don’t know how to act toward celebrity. So I always have someone with me. I can have a hat on, glasses on, whatever. People still notice me. If I go outside without a hat on, I feel like I’m naked. This life doesn’t fit my personality.”

Oprah is still from Chicago right?  I think they are use to stars far greater than Derrick Rose, but I digress.

If you want to read the full GQ interview you can go here and here is the behind the scenes video.

Kanye is also from chi-town…..he aint complaining about the fans….

  2. Kanye isn’t humble as Rose. He’s a media ho. Oprah was never on that side of Chicago and still isn’t. I can understand where he is coming from.

I think what he’s trying to say is that some “fans” lack respect here. I’m pretty sure LA can generally walk around L.A. by himself, or minimal security. Pretty sure MElo or Amare or Lin could walk around without being damn-near harassed. In Chicago there are girls who would throw themselves over him, or guys who would just flat out assault/rob him. Sure we had Jordan, but what superstar have we had after that, especially on the Southside? Guys like Sammy Sosa don’t really count because that’s the North Side, which is a different world from the Southside and where Rose is from. I could be wrong but that’s what I got from it. There are some places Derrick can’t even go by himself, regardless of whether or not Chicago loves him. He could get robbed, and those robbers would go to a Bulls game a week later with no feeling about it.

  4. Intriguing article. I’m sure I’m a bit late in posting my comment nevertheless the article ended up being to the and just the data I became in search of. I can’t say which i accept all you could mentioned but it really was emphatically fascinating! BTW…I found your site by way of a Google search. I’m a frequent visitor to your blog and can return again soon.
