This isn’t as big of a deal as it will be made out to be.
Teams will just put a spy on Tebow and be more aware of the fake punt. In my opinion it hurt the Jets, because the eliminate of surprise is gone.
It seems that the Jets are following through on that suggestion. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team has told Tebow that they will use him in that role during the 2012 season. It’s not clear if Tebow will be playing that role on every punt or if it will only be an occasional look, but the reason why the Jets would deploy Tebow that way makes sense.
