Shaunie O’Neal is a smart woman.

She left her first husband for Shaq (the upgrade). She played her position even when Shaq was running around like Zeus with other women. Waited to the right time, got divorce and got paid. Didn’t just sit at the crib collecting Shaq’s money, she became the executive producers of the Basketball Wives.

She doesn’t get into altercations, she rarely even shows up on the show. As a smart individual her reputation is largely in tact while collecting money off the other women acting like a Fight Club.

She released this long statement address the violence that has broke out lately on the Basketball Wives.

“I’m extremely happy that Basketball Wives continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality.

As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.”

In a very nice way, Shaunie is saying………….

I’M GETTING PAID DEAL WITH IT

Nothing wrong with that. Nicely worded press releases doesn’t change the fact that people don’t watch the Basketball Wives for intellectual conversations. They watch to see Evelyn throw bottles.

Point blank, no matter how you try to clean it up.

    Shaunie if full of ish, I use to feel sorry her because of the way Shaq treated her but nah. So what Shaunie is saying is she’ll sale her and her kids souls for a dollar, WOW! Is that a definition of a strong, independent black woman is these days?! Now I see why real black men don’t respect us.

    @pam. Agree 100%

    at Pam & KimD: I agree for selling out themselves for the money & that if women dont respect themselves, how can they expect a man, to respect them. But I totally disagree in lumping all together or making a wide, sweeping, generalization about how black men are going to treat black women. There are many layers to our black people in Why we @ times, go to the extreme, in doing the hurtful things we do to one another. Once you peel back alll those layers & get to the meat(history of self-hate), You will see why we outright disrespect one another.

    What do you mean that she has to get paid ?

    The moment the ink was dry on her divorce papers, she was set for LIFE.

    Gold Digging chick…..
