Dwight Freeney Says He Isn’t Like Lebron, But He is Lying
I have said this many times, but it is worth repeating.
LEBRON JAMES WAS A FREE AGENT
The emphasis on FREE. He had fulfilled his contract to the Cleveland Cavaliers and was free to seek employment wherever he pleased.
His execution of that may have been flawed, but he did nothing wrong in signing with the Miami Heat. You may disagree with the decision, but if you were free to choose your employer, I doubt you would want someone telling you where you should go.
Listen to Dwight Freeney.
“I’m kind of old-school when it comes to that thought. I’m not LeBron trying to leave the team. I’m more like the era of Magic and (New York Giants linebacker) Lawrence Taylor, who stayed with that same team for their entire careers win, lose or draw. They were married to the city they were drafted in. You go through the tough times and great times with them, and that’s it. That’s what I’m looking forward to.
“You don’t know what’s going to happen. I can get traded. They may want to go in a different direction. Maybe I can’t handle the (defensive) scheme. You have all those possibilities. But, personally, I would love to stay.”
If right now Dwight Freeney had the ability to go to any team in the league he would explore that opportunity.
When Freeney contracts run out after this year, let’s see how loyal he really is. I gather he will be more like Dwight Howard than Lebron and that isn’t a good thing.
