Take a step back and think about what Mike Brown has to deal with.

  • Replaces the legend Phil Jackson
  • No Training camp because of lockout
  • Failed CP3 Trade
  • Then watching CP3 go to Clippers
  • Losing Lamar Kardashian
  • Dealing with Kobe Bryant
  • Pau Gasol in his feelings over trade rumors
  • Dealing with Metta World Peace
  • Andrew Bynum laziness
  • One of the worse benches in the NBA
  • Crazed Lakers fans

With all of that going on, the Lakers still made it to the #3 seed in the West, so to me what Magic Johnson is saying is crazy.

“They’re going to run Mike Brown first out of town,” Johnson said as an ESPN NBA analyst Friday. “Then second will be [Andrew] Bynum. Then third will be [Pau] Gasol.”

Whether that will happen remains unclear.

“His job will go,” Johnson said. “The Lakers are about championships. That’s what the Lakers are about. if they lose this game, Mike Brown, I bet you, will not be sitting there.”

“Mike Brown will not be coaching the Lakers if they lose this game,” Johnson said. “There would be so much pressure on Jim Buss and the Laker organization to get rid of him.”

Mike Brown has some issues, but he doesn’t deserve to be fired and anyone who says that isn’t being rational.

Who are you going to bring in? Stan Van Gundy? You think Kobe is going to take well to that Diet Pepsi swigging?

Brown deserves more than one season to prove his worth and considering the obstacles that has been put in his way, I think he has done a good job.
