Darrelle Revis Considering Holding Out From Training Camp……Again

What was the point of Darrelle Revis signing his last contract if he was just going to hold out two years later?

The Jets and Revis have been both mum on a new contract and now Revis says he can’t make any guarantees about coming to Training Camp.

Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis faced questions again at today’s practice regarding his contract and a potential holdout prior to this year’s training camp according to Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Mum as usual, the cornerback would not guarantee his presence for the first day in Cortland when asked directly.

“What’s the point?” Revis said when asked if he could say he’d be in Cortland for the start of camp. “I’m getting ready for the season. You keep on stabbing at the same thing.”

Revis was asked again.

“I don’t know, that’s all I’m telling you,” he said. “I don’t know if I am or not. I told you that a while back ago. So okay, I’m getting ready for this season, alright?”

  • He’s doing it because essentially the extenstion he signed was just a “band aid” just an extra yr and more money up front, both sides agreed to talk about another extenstion at a later date. He’s made 32 million the first two years and is due 13.5 million these last two years combined. But the kicker is if he holds out then three more years at cheap salaries gets added on but if he does just play this deal out then the Jets cant give him the franchise tag. It sort of sounds like Osi’s situation him being upset Jerry Reese promised to get a deal done with him a later time and so far that time hasnt came. From what I’ve read he wants Robert Mathis, Trent Cole type money which isnt asking for the moon in the ballpark of 40 million over 4 years
